Mutt and PeleAs the hottest dog in France with a photo album stretching all the way from Renee Zellweger, to Drew Barrymore, onto Ruby Wax, by way of Dido and Chloe Sevigny I must say that impressed it is hard for me to be. Then along comes this weeks dinner guest, Pele. The greatest footballer of all time was in Paris promoting the invigorating effects of Viagra. And he certainly floated my boat, travelling to dine with me after kicking off the France Yugoslavia match at the Stade de France. If only the ten of thousands in the stadium knew it would be fourlegged me who would be hosting his after match bash! We dined in a small restaurant in the hip Marais district of Paris round the corner from my flat and supped on the finest fare followed by a photo opportunity in the middle of the restaurant! Over the years I have struck a pose with the film and fashion crowd so going into soccer was a big departure and in some style. Imagine a little lakeland terrier in the hands that hoisted the World Cup, not once, but three times. Friends were certainly amazed by my latest encounter, but then life has been pretty sparkling since I left my native champagne. After being scouted for a fashion ad for Emanuel Ungaro I fell in with the fashion set of Paris and started my magazine called Mutt Mag. The first cover was a celebration of my first visit to Cannes Film festival and showed me with stars including Calista Flockheart and launched my website mutleydog.com. Meets and greets followed with Cate Blanchett, Charlotte Rampling and Naomi Campbell. The following year I went to the festival as roving canine correspondent for The Big Breakfast and launched the Palm Dog which was for the best dog performance in a festival film. It was won by the star of Jennifer Jason Leigh's dog Otis. This year I was again in Cannes where the winning hound was in the double prize winner The Man Without a Past. At a thrusting seven years of age my sights are firmly set on the next target the big screen, wish me luck. |
